Abstract
Current dental market is filled with hundreds of different rotary systems for the endodontic treatment.
All of them offer efficiency and safety. However, decision on instrument selection is very complex. It
depends on the root canal anatomy and clinical conditions. We, as clinicians, must evaluate the initial
clinical situation, taking into consideration the complex anatomy, “hidden” curves and dimensions.
Diagnostics and careful treatment planning phases are very important for precise case evaluation,
creating individual treatment protocols and selecting the most effective mechanical instrumentation
and chemical disinfection sequences. Therefore, decent knowledge of the instrument design and
metallurgy features are important on making proper decision for optimal debridement and subsequent
medication of diverse root canal system.
During the lecture we will look at the anatomical challengers and analyze important parameters of the
endodontic instruments for safe and effective root canal negotiation and shaping. We will also discuss
critical steps for successful root canals instrumentation. We will also focus on important aspects of
root canal irrigation, as well, as matching irrigation protocols for different root canal sealers.
